I love days in late autumn when the air is so wet and still that all you can hear are occasional fat drips falling from the trees, but all other sounds are stilled. Someone has pressed the pause button, just before winter.
The stillness can't hold. Storms are coming but for a moment the promise of the summer seems fulfilled. Things are perfect, if we look at them.
It's so good to be outdoors, walking to keep out the damp and chill, but making time to stop and notice how even ordinary places are transformed.
These images were made during a walk in November 2015 along the bridleways running between Horley, Surrey, UK and the tiny hamlet of Haroldslea. Canon 6D camera with Canon EF 24-105mm L lens.
